Ogun Assures Workers on Salary Payment

The Ogun State Government has expressed its empathy, sympathy and understanding with the entire work force and labour leaders in the state who have been agitated by the delayed payment of November salary to some of the workers, particularly those in the very senior category.

According to a press release signed by Secretary to State Government, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa the government reminded the workers that despite the dwindling revenue allocation from the Federal Government, which has adversely affected all the states in the federation, Ogun State has kept faith with workers through prompt and regular payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities.

"We are proud to say that since the last 42 months that this administration has been in office, we have not defaulted on the payment of workers salaries. The delay in the payment of November 2014 salaries to certain categories of workers is definitely unusual and will soon be sorted out. We hereby assure all the workers and their unions that efforts are being made to ensure that they all have a good Christmas and New Year celebration", the government stated.

On the issue of Co-operatives and other deductions mentioned in the letter by the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council dated 16th December, 2014, the Government said most of the outstanding deductions were inherited from past administration and the government is set to work out an arrangement with the workers on the payment of the deductions.

While thanking the workers for their support, understanding and dedication to duties, the Government noted that it will do all in its powers to sustain the peaceful industrial relations that has existed in the last 42 months of the administration.
